As a Quantity Surveyor, you will take full ownership of the commercial management of mechanical and MEP projects from pre-contract through to final account. Working closely with project and delivery teams, you will ensure projects are delivered on budget while maintaining strong commercial performance and relationships with subcontractors and clients. This is a key role within the commercial team, offering exposure to a range of projects and the opportunity to contribute directly to profitability, cost control, and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage cost control, budgeting, and financial performance across multiple mechanical projects
- Prepare and manage subcontractor packages including procurement, negotiation, and appointment
- Monitor project costs against budget and report on variances and commercial risks
- Prepare and submit interim valuations and agree payments with clients and subcontractors
- Produce accurate cost value reconciliations and monthly reporting
- Support contract administration and advise on contractual claims and variations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders
- Assist in final account negotiations to maximise project margins
- Mentor junior commercial staff and contribute to team development
- Ensure all commercial processes align with company procedures and project programmes
About You
- 3 to 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within mechanical or MEP contracting
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial management processes
- Experience in cost planning, financial reporting, and subcontractor management
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Commercially aware with a strong focus on cost control and profitability
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a project team
- Well organised with strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- RICS accreditation is desirable but not essential
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required
