This well established mechanical contractor has built a strong reputation for delivering high quality building services installations across large scale residential developments, multi unit housing schemes and complex commercial projects. With a growing portfolio across Greater Dublin and beyond, the company is known for technical excellence, structured project delivery and long term client relationships. Operating from a modern HQ in Newry, the business continues to expand its preconstruction and project delivery teams to support an increasing pipeline of residential and mixed use developments. Their focus on quality, coordination and early stage planning ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.
The Role β Mechanical Services Coordinator
As Mechanical Services Coordinator, you will operate as a technical lead across multiple projects from early design and preconstruction through to handover. Based primarily in Newry with regular travel to Greater Dublin sites, you will act as the key interface between internal construction teams, main contractors, consultants and clients. This is a building services coordination role focused heavily on preconstruction, design management and mechanical systems integration rather than purely site based delivery. You will drive coordination meetings, resolve technical issues before they reach site and ensure mechanical packages are fully aligned with programme, budget and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical services coordination from preconstruction stage through to project handover
- Chair and manage design and preconstruction coordination meetings with consultants and main contractors
- Act as the principal technical liaison between design teams, site teams and external stakeholders
- Oversee mechanical design reviews ensuring buildability, compliance and integration with architectural and structural elements
- Monitor programme milestones and ensure mechanical services align with overall construction sequencing
- Identify and resolve coordination issues early to protect programme and quality
- Support digital job setup and pre site readiness using Procore and other construction management platforms
- Contribute to standardisation of workflows, documentation and preconstruction processes
- Report regularly to senior management on technical progress, risks and key milestones
- Mentor junior mechanical coordinators and support team development across live projects
About You
- Minimum 3 years experience in a Mechanical Services Coordinator or Building Services Engineer role within residential or commercial construction
- Background in mechanical contracting, building services consultancy or technical project delivery
- Strong experience on multi unit residential developments or complex mixed use projects
- Proven knowledge of air source heat pumps, exhaust air heat pumps, heat interface units, energy centres and heating controls
- Experience with communal cold water distribution, MVHR, MEV systems, dry risers, mechanical ventilation and passive smoke ventilation
- Demonstrable experience at preconstruction and design coordination stage, not solely site supervision
- Solid understanding of construction sequencing, services integration and buildability
- Experience managing job budgets and supporting commercial awareness during preconstruction
- Confident communicator able to engage with senior consultants, contractors and clients
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction platforms such as Procore
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel between Newry and Greater Dublin
Benefits
- Company pension
- 30 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays
- Travel support for project visits
- Structured career progression within a growing building services contractor
