Your role at BRE
- Manage projects from initial client liaison through to delivery and final reporting
- Interpret client requirements, design specifications, and relevant standards to develop testing proposals
- Oversee laboratory‑based testing projects, including coordination of subcontractors and client interactions
- Monitor and analyse test data, observations, and measurements to ensure accuracy and quality
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and supporting documentation
- Conduct desk‑based research and engineering analysis as required
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with relevant standards and UKAS‑accredited procedures
- Support the development of bespoke testing regimes where required
- Assist in the design and construction of test rigs and instrumentation setup
- Manage project budgets and timelines to ensure delivery to agreed cost and schedule
- Contribute to the development and growth of testing and consultancy services within the team
What We Are Looking For
- Degree in Structural, Civil or Mechanical engineering
- Demonstrated experience in a Project Engineer role within the UK construction industry, ideally with a structural engineering focus.
- Strong project management experience, with the ability to deliver projects on time, cost, and quality requirements
- Experience interpreting technical standards, specifications, and client requirements
- Proven ability to manage and analyse technical data and produce clear, accurate reports
- Sound understanding of engineering principles, particularly in relation to buildings and building products
- Experience working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Strong problem‑solving capability with a practical, solution‑focused approach
- Proficiency in MS Office for reporting, data analysis, and presentations
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively within deadlines
- Experience working within regulated or accredited environments (e.g. UKAS) is advantageous
- Exposure to laboratory testing, product/system design, or structural analysis is desirable

Work Location Options
This role offers a mix of home and office working. You will need to be within commuting distance of our Watford or Glasgow office, as you will be expected to attend in person 3 times per week.
