BRC are working closely with a housing organisation to recruit an Income Assistant to join them on a 4 month fixed term basis. This role involves supporting the Income Management Team with the recovery of former tenant arrears, sundry debts and chargeable repairs. You will proactively engage with customers, agree realistic repayment plans and ensure all recovery activity is compliant with relevant regulations and policies.
Duties:
- Manage the collection of former tenant arrears and outstanding debts
- Collect sundry debts including charges and fees
- Set up and monitor repayment plans, taking action where payments are missed
- Provide advice and signpost customers to appropriate debt support services
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure a joined-up approach to debt management
- Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and organisational requirements
- Support complaint investigations and provide relevant case information
- Contribute to continuous service improvement
Requirements:
- Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent
- Experience in debt recovery or income collection
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage sensitive conversations
- Ability to manage complex cases and prioritise workload effectively
- Experience using systems to process and maintain accurate data
- Customer-focused with a proactive and resilient approach
