Supported Housing Worker - Bath

Salary: £17.42 per hour (including holiday)

Hours: Part-time – 30 hours per week

Contract: Temporary (ongoing opportunity)

About the Role:

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with people and wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable adults. You’ll be supporting residents to maintain their accommodation, build their independence and work towards positive outcomes. The role is varied and involves everything from one-to-one support and risk assessments through to helping residents access benefits, services and suitable move-on options. You’ll also work alongside external agencies and local services to make sure residents have the right support around them.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day support to vulnerable adults living in supported accommodation.
• Build positive, professional relationships with residents and respond to their individual needs.
• Complete needs assessments and identify and manage risks.
• Deliver structured, outcome-focused support sessions and maintain effective support plans.
• Support residents to sustain their accommodation and develop independent living skills.
• Assist residents with benefit claims and maximising their income.
• Help residents identify suitable move-on options and support them through the transition.
• Encourage residents to develop positive support networks and engage with relevant community services.
• Support residents to access appointments and external services where required.
• Respond appropriately to changing needs, challenging situations and crisis situations.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records in line with data protection requirements.
• Liaise with local authorities, external support agencies and other professionals.
• Carry out building, health and safety checks and report or address any identified issues.
• Help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for residents.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a high-quality, outcome-focused service.

About You:

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has experience supporting vulnerable adults or people with additional support needs.
• Has experience working in supported housing, housing support, social care or a similar environment.
• Has a genuine understanding of the needs and challenges faced by vulnerable adults.
• Is compassionate, empathetic and takes a positive, non-judgemental approach.
• Can build trusting and professional relationships with residents.
• Has experience with support planning, needs assessments, risk assessments or risk management.
• Can remain calm and confident when dealing with challenging situations.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is organised and able to prioritise their workload effectively.
• Is confident maintaining accurate records and using IT systems, including Microsoft Office.
• Can work effectively with external agencies and other professionals.
• Is adaptable, motivated and able to work as part of a team.
• Is committed to treating residents with dignity, respect and equality.
• Has a proactive approach and is passionate about helping people develop their independence and achieve positive outcomes.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Experience supporting vulnerable adults or people with additional support needs.
• Experience working in supported housing or a similar customer-focused environment.
• Understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults and the challenges they may face.
• Experience of completing needs assessments, risk assessments, risk management plans and support plans.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents and external agencies.
• Ability to deal with challenging situations calmly and assertively.
• Ability to work respectfully with people from different backgrounds.
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
• Ability to make sound decisions and take responsibility for actions.
• Compassionate, empathetic and motivated approach.
