Support Worker – Criminal Justice

Salary: Β£20,960 per annum (FTE Β£26,200)
Hours: 30 hours per week

Job Overview:
We are currently recruiting for a Support Worker to join a Criminal Justice service supporting adults who have experienced homelessness and are leaving prison.
The role involves providing practical and emotional support to clients with a range of complex needs, including mental health, substance misuse, trauma, domestic abuse and ongoing involvement with the criminal justice system.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage referrals and complete needs and risk assessments.
  • Develop and deliver personalised support plans based on individual needs.
  • Support clients to maintain their accommodation and develop the skills needed for independent living.
  • Provide advice and guidance around benefits, budgeting, accessing services and accommodation.
  • Work closely with Probation, Police and other external agencies to provide effective multi-agency support.
  • Ensure clients understand their rights, responsibilities and licence conditions when moving into accommodation.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and reporting requirements.
  • Support clients to make positive changes and reduce the risk of repeat homelessness or offending.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota.

About You:

  • Experience supporting vulnerable adults and/or people with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
  • Experience working within housing, homelessness, criminal justice or a similar support setting would be advantageous.
  • Confident working with external agencies and multi-disciplinary professionals.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding, risk management and person-centred support.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for business use.
  • Business insurance will be required due to regular travel across Somerset.
