LOCATION: Truro

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Shifts will be agreed on a rolling rota between Monday–Sunday, between 8am and 8pm

SALARY: £15.34 per hour PAYE

DURATION: Temp to perm

We are looking for a Support Worker to join our team at our supported living service in Truro, supporting customers who may experience challenging behaviour associated with mental ill health and alcohol and substance misuse. This is a rewarding role where you will provide person‑centred support, build positive relationships and help customers work towards greater stability and independence.

About the role:

  • Provide person‑centred support to customers experiencing mental ill health and/or alcohol and substance misuse.
  • Support customers who may display challenging behaviour, maintaining a calm, professional and positive approach.
  • Build trusting and respectful relationships with customers.
  • Support customers with their individual needs, goals and support plans.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and effective risk management.
  • Promote independence, dignity, wellbeing and positive outcomes for customers.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records and support documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues and other professionals.
  • Work confidently both independently, including lone working, and as part of a team.
  • Respond appropriately to challenging situations and work effectively under pressure.
  • Adapt to changing circumstances and the individual needs of customers.

About you:

  • Experienced in or has a good understanding of support needs and support planning.
  • Experienced in risk assessing and risk management.
  • A confident communicator who can build positive relationships and rapport with customers.
  • Organised, with good record‑keeping and computer skills.
  • Confident working independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable with lone working.
  • Flexible and adaptable in their approach to work.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Friendly, approachable and positive.
  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable people and helping them achieve positive outcomes.
