The Opportunity

We are recruiting Female Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs) to support high-risk victims of domestic abuse across South Gloucestershire and Bristol. We welcome applications from both qualified IDVAs and experienced Support Workers looking to develop their careers in domestic abuse services. We are also keen to hear from candidates with a strong background in mental health, safeguarding, multi‑agency working, family support, young people or supporting individuals with complex needs. You'll provide outreach and community‑based support, working alongside the Police, MARAC and other partner agencies to help survivors improve their safety, rebuild confidence and regain independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist support to high-risk survivors of domestic abuse and their children.
  • Complete DASH and needs assessments, develop safety plans and monitor risk.
  • Offer practical advice around housing, benefits, legal support and access to services.
  • Work closely with the Police, MARAC, local authorities and partner agencies.
  • Develop and review strengths-based, recovery-focused support plans.
  • Respond to crisis situations and safeguarding concerns.
  • Maintain accurate case records and monitor outcomes.
  • Co-deliver survivor programmes and group support sessions.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals, ideally survivors of domestic abuse.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and risk assessment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working within a multi‑agency or multidisciplinary setting.
  • An empathetic, non‑judgemental and survivor‑focused approach.

Essential Requirements

  • Full, valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • DBS dated within the last three months, or willingness to complete an update through BRC.

Interested?

Whether you're an experienced IDVA or looking to take the next step into specialist domestic abuse support, we'd love to hear from you.
