Are you an experienced Building Surveyor, seeking your next career move? My client has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Building Surveyor to join their Education Maintenance Team on a permanent basis. The successful applicant will manage building work on Education facilities in compliance with current legislation and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Utilise NEC4, SFG20, JobLogic, and FastDraft systems on a daily basis to support the delivery of the Hard FM contract, alongside the use of Concerto for broader asset management functions.
- Provide comprehensive support in maintaining properties under the department’s responsibility, ensuring buildings remain fit for purpose and all works comply with current legislation.
- Act as consultant, within the terms of Service Agreements with other departments to manage building repairs, maintenance and refurbishment.
- Fulfil the role of Planning Supervisor and Designer of projects subject to the Construction Design and Management Regulations 1994, ensuring compliance with legal responsibilities.
- Undertake condition surveys to formulate maintenance programmes with budget costing.
- Liaise with Chief Officers or their representatives to prioritise and produce agreed works programmes.
- Demonstrate a general understanding of asbestos awareness, including types of asbestos, location and likely occurrence of asbestos and asbestos-containing materials; risk minimisation strategies; and procedures for dealing with emergencies such as uncontrolled asbestos dust release in the workplace.
Requirements:
- Hold an academic qualification recognised as being suitable for Corporate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience of project management at a senior level, relevant experience in the repair, refurbishment, improvement and general maintenance of buildings, including the ability to prepare specifications, drawings, including feasibility studies.
- Thorough understanding and experience of Health and Safety issues and requirements related to the 1994 CDM regulations including the duties associated with the role of Planning Supervisor and Designer.
