- Temporary Housing Support Worker
- DURATION : Temporary, at least 4-6 weeks
- We are looking for an experienced and compassionate
Housing Support Worker to join our Basingstoke Outreach service.
You will support people who have experienced homelessness and may have complex needs, helping them maintain their accommodation, build confidence and resilience, and move towards long-term independent living.
This is a varied role involving both housing management and person‑centred support, working closely with partner agencies and other professionals.
Key responsibilities
- Manage referrals, assessments and a caseload of people with complex needs.
- Develop and review person‑centred support plans and risk assessments.
- Support people to maintain their accommodation and develop independent living skills.
- Assist with housing‑related matters including rent, service charges, repairs and housing benefit.
- Build positive relationships with mental health, social care, housing, probation and other partner agencies.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive risk‑taking.
- Support people to access meaningful activities, employment and community services.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records.
- Complete housing, health and safety checks and ensure the service is safe and well maintained.
- Support and oversee volunteers.
- Work flexibly as part of the wider team, including outreach, in‑reach and other services when required.
- Participate in the on‑call rota, with additional pay.
About you
We are looking for someone who isempathetic, resilient, confident and committed to supporting people experiencing homelessness and social exclusion.
- You will have
- Previous experience working with socially excluded people.
- Experience supporting people with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The confidence to have difficult and constructive conversations.
- A commitment to equality, safeguarding and person‑centred support.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, email and spreadsheets.
- A willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evenings, weekends and early mornings.
Knowledge of homelessness, housing benefits, housing management or multi‑agency working would be advantageous.
A full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes is essential.
A full enhanced DBS, in‑date is essential.
