We now have an excellent opportunity for a First Line IT Support Engineer to join the IT Team and help support users across our dealership network and remote workforce.

Job Summary:

This role will provide first line support across day-to-day business-as-usual IT operations, Helpdesk ticket handling, Joiners, Movers and Leavers administration, and support for field-based engineers where required.

As a First Line IT Support Engineer, you will be part of the IT Support team and will provide responsive, customer-focused support to users across the business. The role will cover day-to-day BAU support, Helpdesk ticket management, Joiners, Movers and Leavers tasks, device setup, basic troubleshooting, and escalation support where required. This is a site-based role, with travel to dealership sites as needed to support project activity, site visits and engineer visits across the group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for day-to-day IT support, BAU requests, incidents and service queries via the Support Desk.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve first-line technical issues involving software, hardware, network, and other IT systems.
  • Log, track, and manage incidents in the ticketing system, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
  • Perform basic diagnostics and problem-solving using remote desktop and diagnostic tools.
  • Set up and configure end-user devices, including laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Support Joiners, Movers and Leavers processes, including account creation, access changes, permissions updates, equipment preparation and leaver account administration.
  • Collaborate with other IT support teams and third-party suppliers, escalating and assisting with more complex issues where required.
  • Provide remote and on-site support to field-based engineers where needed, including basic device, connectivity, account access and application support.
  • Maintain a knowledge base for known issues, solutions, and best practices.
  • Educate end-users on IT policies, security best practices, and basic troubleshooting steps.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and suggesting process improvements.

Key Requirements:

  • Technical Skills: Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, endpoint devices, mobile devices, printers, Wi-Fi and common business applications.
  • Customer Service: Strong communication skills, with a customer-first attitude and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset to diagnose issues efficiently and offer practical solutions.
  • Team Player: Willingness to work collaboratively within the IT support team.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Highly self-motivated: Able to work independently with the capability to prioritise workload.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • An IT related degree or similar related qualification or be able to demonstrate proven IT support experience.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco, CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications) is desirable.
  • Be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of IT Networks and systems, Telephony, hardware, and software.

Location

This is a site-based role. Travel to dealership sites and project locations will be required from time to time to assist with project delivery, on-site support and engineer visits across the group.
