Responsibilities
- Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract and additional enhanced services where appropriate.
- Be available for surgery, telephone, home visits, and referral work per the practice timetable.
- Record clear, contemporaneous computer‑based consultation notes to agreed standards using SystmOne.
- Make professional, autonomous decisions on presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health care workers.
- Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and following current disease‑management protocols.
- Provide counselling and health education.
- Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions to avoid handwritten prescriptions.
- Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary or generically when clinically appropriate.
- Carry out other normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP in primary care.
Qualifications
- GMC registered.
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
- MRCGP – Inclusion on the Performers List.
- MPS/MIDDUS membership.
- DBS Enhanced Check.
- Experience working within a UK GP Practice.
- Experience in primary care in an area with significant health problems.
- Knowledge of EPS Prescribing.
- Computer literate in Microsoft and clinical systems.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Patient‑sensitive and able to work in a highly confidential environment.
- Ability to stay calm in a crisis.
- Willingness to undertake continuing professional development.
- Full UK driving licence and use of car.
- Knowledge of current guidelines and general practice environment.
- Understanding of local demographic characteristics affecting health (desirable).
