We’re working in partnership with a housing provider based in Essex to recruit a building safety focused M&E Surveyor to join them on an interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically skilled surveyor with expertise in building safety and M&E surveying to play a key role in maintaining safe, sustainable, and high-quality homes for residents.
The Role
As an M&E Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for assessing properties and equipment, specifying works and managing works processes. You’ll ensure homes remain safe, compliant, and in excellent condition — providing a service that delivers real value for money and excellent customer outcomes. Working with a level of autonomy, you’ll make day-to-day operational decisions to ensure service performance, resident satisfaction, and compliance with organisational maintenance and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Working as part of the Property Services team, you will take the lead on building safety-related surveying activity across a varied residential portfolio, ensuring properties meet all statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Conducting inspections and surveys with a primary focus on:
- Fire doors (inspection, specification, remediation oversight)
- Compartmentation and fire stopping
- Electrical compliance (EICRs, remedial works oversight)
- General building safety and compliance-related defects
About You
- Proven experience in building safety and compliance-focused surveying
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Fire door standards and inspection regimes
- Fire compartmentation principles
- Electrical compliance in residential settings
- Relevant housing and building safety legislation
