Purpose of the Role: Support the development of Bravissimo brand product by producing accurate lingerie, swimwear and integral support samples to a high technical standard in line with brand requirements. Work in partnership with the pattern techs from initial concept stage throughout the grading and fit development process to problem‑solve pattern and make‑up challenges ensuring that all product developed is fit for bulk production and offers excellent fit and quality for our customers. Work collaboratively with the other sample machinists and pattern techs to ensure smooth day‑to‑day running of the sample room within the product department. Proactively seek feedback and insights through regular time in customer‑facing areas of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proficiently use a range of industrial sewing machinery to produce technically accurate finished sample garments in line with specification.
- Accurately cut samples by hand in a range of fabrics including lace, embroidery, stretch jersey etc following cutting and placement instructions given.
- Ensure samples are made accurately 1st time by checking and highlighting to pattern techs any issues with patterns, technical paperwork and measurement charts.
- Work in partnership with pattern techs on product development at all stages, giving feedback and making suggestions for pattern requirements, finish techniques and garment construction methods suitable for the chosen fabrics and trims in bulk production.
- Accurately measure samples produced to ensure they meet the required measurement spec and feed back to tech any problems with achieving the measurements.
- Check all samples produced to ensure that quality meets expected standards and sample is fit for intended end purpose (e.g. technical fitting, wear trials, buying presentation samples).
- Record all feedback and suggestions on the correct paperwork to retain a full style history.
- Manage fabric and trim stocks in the sample room with other sample machinists to avoid delays due to shortages.
- Manage the weekly workload in line with the agreed processes and ensure efficient running of the sample room.
- Engage with the Technical Manager and Lead Techs to ensure sample quality standards are deliverable, giving feedback and input into the sample room working processes and machinery inventory.
- Support the product team and business with sample amendments and mending of stock samples as and when required.
- Collaborate with other members of the Product team to support delivery of overall department goals and commitments.
Person Specifications:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Passion for sewing and product development with an eye for detail and accuracy.
- Experience working in a commercial sewing environment is an advantage.
- Proficient in using a range of industrial sewing machinery such as lockstitch, overlock, twin needle with ability to carry out simple repair/maintenance of those machines if necessary.
- Experience working with a wide range of fabrics for lingerie and swimwear such as stretch jerseys and meshes, satin and silk, fine laces and embroideries.
- Technical knowledge of lingerie and swimwear garment construction.
- Team player who is confident to work collaboratively and willing to help and support others.
- Organised, self‑motivated and positive person who works well under pressure.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of using Microsoft Outlook and Teams would be advantageous.
