Who we are - MTM

MTM is part market research agency, part strategy consultancy, focused on media, entertainment and technology.

Our clients range from digital giants (Google, Amazon) to streamers (Netflix, Disney+), broadcasters (BBC, ITV) and a wide range of technology and sports businesses.

Recent strategy projects include exploring the future of the TV market for Ofcom and sizing the UK retail media market for one of the country’s largest grocers.

3 Reasons

3 Reasons gives leaders across UK TV an independent, data-led view of where the market is heading.

Twice a year we publish reports that bring together proprietary data, forecasts, market sizing and expert analysis, and subscribers call on the team throughout the year as new questions arise.

Broadcasters, streaming platforms, studios, telcos and regulators all use 3 Reasons, with clients including the BBC, Disney and DCMS.

Role Overview

We are seeking a curious, analytical Analyst who loves TV and data to join 3 Reasons, the most trusted independent source of insight on the future of the UK TV market.

You’ll learn from the team that broadcasters, platforms and regulators turn to for advice, and build expertise in the UK TV market that you won’t get anywhere else.

Around 60% of your time will be on 3 Reasons, analysing viewing data, updating our models and building our reports, with the other 40% or so on wider strategy projects.

You’ll be supported day to day by a Senior Consultant.

The work runs in six-month cycles that build towards each report, with quieter periods in January and July, which makes it a great introduction to consulting.

This role is ideal for someone bright, energetic and curious who is happy to roll up their sleeves.

We welcome applications from recent graduates as well as people with a few years’ experience; curiosity and analytical ability matter more to us than time served.

The role is based in our Tottenham Court Road office in London, with at least three days a week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data & Analysis
  • Run and analyse Barb viewing data requests in Tech Edge, turning questions round quickly, such as how many people watched a show this year and how that compares with last year.
  • Update and build sections of our forecasting and market sizing models in Excel.
  • Draw on other industry data sources to add context and test findings.
  • Reports & Subscriber Support
  • Turn an outline into clear charts and slides for our twice-yearly reports.
  • Answer subscribers’ questions between reports with quick, focused analysis.
  • Team Contribution
  • Bring your ideas to team discussions and brainstorms on how we read the data and report on trends.
  • Strategy Projects
  • Gather and analyse qualitative and quantitative data on clients’ businesses, markets, customers and competitors.
  • Help run research and interview programmes, often with senior people across media and tech.
  • Build financial models of businesses and markets.
  • Help put together client briefings, reports, workshops and presentations.
  • What We’re Looking For
  • Strong analytical ability.

You enjoy working with numbers and could happily talk about data all day.

A degree in a numerate subject such as science, maths or economics is welcome but not essential.

  • A genuine passion for TV, streaming, media and technology.
  • Confidence in Excel and Power Point.
  • Curiosity, energy and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.
  • Clear writing, and the ability to explain what the numbers mean in plain English.
  • High standards and a sharp eye for accuracy.
  • Confidence using AI tools, with a creative approach to applying them.
  • Ideally, hands‑on experience with Barb data, especially Tech Edge or another Barb bureau tool. It isn’t essential, and we’ll help the right person get up to speed.
  • Ideally, a working knowledge of how UK TV viewing is measured (live versus consolidated viewing, reach, BVOD), experience at a broadcaster, streamer, media agency, regulator or research agency, or some Python, R or SQL.
