We are recruiting on behalf of a special needs school in Dorset. As the school expands its senior leadership team ahead of the new academic year, two Interim Assistant Headteacher positions have arisen, each leading across approximately half the school alongside an existing Assistant Headteacher.

Role One: Curriculum, Teaching & Learning

  • Lead curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment across your phase of the school.
  • Drive curriculum quality, assessment and data-informed school improvement.
  • Coach and develop teaching staff.

Role Two: Pastoral & Inclusion

  • Lead pastoral provision, inclusion, safeguarding and family engagement across your phase.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead for your area.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the wider student services team.

About the role:

  • Start: September 2026
  • Duration: Initially through to Christmas, with strong potential to extend and the opportunity to apply for the permanent posts from January
  • Days: Five days per week, on site
  • Pay: Competitive daily rate via umbrella

What we're looking for:

  • Genuine special school leadership experience
  • Strong track record in either curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment, or pastoral, inclusion and safeguarding leadership
