Brava Education is working with a special school in South West London supporting pupils with complex needs, who need an experienced Interim Middle Leader to join the school ASAP through to the end of the autumn term.
The role
This is a teaching-led Middle Leader role, combining classroom teaching with wider leadership responsibility within the phase.
The role currently includes around 3.5 to 4 days of teaching and 1 to 1.5 days of non-teaching leadership time.
The school is looking to increase the leadership element for Middle Leaders, so this balance may shift further towards leadership.
You will work as part of the wider leadership team, supporting the phase and contributing to the development of teaching, learning and provision for highly complex pupils.
About you
- Strong and experienced classroom practitioner with a specialist background.
- Experience working within autism, SLD or SEMH settings.
- Confident supporting pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
- Experience at Senior Teacher, Head of Department or experienced Middle Leader level.
- Strong understanding of highly differentiated or semi-formal curriculums.
- Experience of the Equals curriculum or a similar framework is desirable.
- Comfortable in a teaching-led role with wider leadership responsibility.

The role is available ASAP and will be five days a week, fully on site, with an initial commitment through to Christmas.
The school is looking to move very quickly due to an immediate teaching need, so candidates must be available to start promptly.
