Brava Education is working with a specialist SEMH/ASD school in Buckinghamshire to appoint an experienced Interim Deputy Headteacher for the full academic year, starting September 2026 (or sooner depending on availability). This is a non-teaching, operationally focused leadership role in a school supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs and autism. All pupils have an EHCP. You will be a visible, hands-on presence across the school, working closely with the headteacher and wider leadership team to keep day to day operations running smoothly.
The role:
- Lead on data and assessment, tracking pupil progress and outcomes
- Oversee Pupil Premium strategy and spend
- Manage daily staffing, cover and deployment
- Line manage a team of around ten staff
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Lead on behaviour and positive handling, including Team Teach
- Support the ongoing development of trauma-informed practice across the school
About you:
- An experienced senior leader with a strong track record in SEMH provision
- Confident operating in a complex, behaviour-led specialist setting
- Experience of autism or broader SEND provision is a significant advantage
- Safeguarding experience, ideally DSL or Deputy DSL trained
- Calm, resilient and consistent in a demanding environment
