Brava Education is working with a small independent specialist school in Derbyshire to appoint a permanent Headteacher.
The school supports young people with SEMH needs, most of whom have EHCPs. It opened recently and has passed its pre-registration inspection, with plans to grow. The new Headteacher will play a central part in shaping the school and leading it through its next stage of development.
The role
This is a hands-on headship in a trauma-informed, therapeutic setting, for a leader who enjoys being visible in school as well as setting direction. You will:
- set the ethos and strategic vision of the school, and lead its improvement and growth
- lead the curriculum and the quality of teaching and learning
- lead safeguarding, pastoral care and SEND provision
- ensure compliance with the Independent School Standards
- work closely with clinical and residential colleagues, families and local authorities
You will have the backing of an experienced regional leadership team.
About you
- QTS, with NPQH or equivalent
- Leadership experience in a special school or complex setting
- Strong knowledge of the Independent School Standards and of safeguarding
- An understanding of residential children's homes
- Experience of trauma-informed practice and SEMH
- Experience of growing a school or provision would be an advantage
Terms
Full time and permanent. Competitive salary and dependent on experience. The anticipated start date is January 2027.
