The ice has the power to change us for the better. Make us stronger. More resilient. More in control. That is why we build the world’s finest ice baths and cold plunges. We exist to support a practice of deliberate cold exposure, cold thermogenesis or cold water therapy for athletes, wellbeing or fitness enthusiasts, biohackers, high-performers and cold water swimmers.
We’re currently looking to collaborate with an experienced HVAC / refrigeration engineer to support the next phase of performance optimisation and platform evolution across our ice bath chiller systems. This will involve working on-site at our workshop in Wetherby.
Over the past 12–18 months, we’ve gathered extensive real-world operational data across a wide range of installation environments, particularly warm, high-humidity indoor poolside settings. This has given us valuable insight into system behaviour under demanding thermal conditions and highlighted opportunities to further enhance long‑term performance, efficiency, and resilience.
Following a number of successful internal developments — including airflow architecture refinements, advanced control/software improvements, and upgraded thermal management strategies — we are now looking to work with a highly practical engineer to help us take the platforms to the next level.
Areas of focus include:
- Compressor performance and lifecycle optimisation
- Refrigeration system validation and health analysis
- EEV behaviour refinement and refrigerant optimisation
- Condenser airflow and heat rejection enhancement
- Startup/inrush optimisation strategies
- Commissioning and calibration process development
- Applying platform‑wide learnings across both 1HP and 2HP systems
One particularly interesting finding: Our water‑cooled systems have operated with exceptional reliability over the past 18 months, while air‑cooled systems installed in challenging poolside environments have demonstrated very different thermal loading characteristics. This has opened up some exciting engineering opportunities around environmental optimisation, thermodynamic efficiency, and next‑generation cooling architecture.
We’re looking for someone hands‑on and experienced who enjoys structured testing, iterative engineering improvement, and developing robust high‑performance systems — not simply delivering high‑level consultancy reports. Experience with refrigeration systems, commercial chillers, heat exchangers, low‑temperature applications, or HVAC product/platform development would be especially valuable.
