A permanent position for 35 hours, term time only, at Branthwaite Academy, located on Branthwaite Road, Workington, Cumbria CA14 4SS. The salary is SCP 6 £25,989 FTE pro rata, plus a £2000.00 BA SEN allowance (pro rata) upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period. The start date is to be confirmed.

We are currently looking to recruit passionate and caring Teaching Assistants to further develop our support team. Our school is a specialist provision for ASC pupils, providing education for children aged between 4 and 19 years who have a primary need and diagnosis of Autism and may experience social, emotional, and behavioural challenges in mainstream education. This is an exciting opportunity to join our provision and play a key role in the development and learning of our students.
Main Roles and Responsibilities:- Work under the direction of the class teacher (or TA leading the class in the short-term absence of the class teacher), implementing planning and assessment, and working with individual or small groups of pupils to achieve bespoke learning for pupil progress.
- Support pupils to overcome barriers to learning, promoting the inclusion of all pupils by applying their IEPs, developing communication skills, supporting behaviour management, developing independence and social skills, and monitoring/reporting on the impact of class-based and individual pupil interventions.
- Provide supervision and guidance and learning opportunities in all non-lesson activities.
- Teaching Assistant/Child Care/NVQ/other relevant qualification (related to education desirable) at a minimum of Level 3, depending on role.
