We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer with HV (High Voltage) and SLD (Single Line Diagram) expertise to support the design, delivery and commissioning of renewable and HVAC-integrated electrical systems. You will play a key role in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient electrical infrastructure across Solar PV, heat pump, and multi-technology decarbonisation projects. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast-growing, sustainability-driven environment and enjoys working on complex, multi-disciplinary installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Engineering
- Produce, review and update Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) for LV and HV systems.
- Design electrical systems for Solar PV, ASHP, GSHP, HVAC and integrated renewable solutions.
- Conduct HV/LV load assessments, fault-level calculations and protection coordination.
- Specify switchgear, transformers, inverters, cabling and protection devices.
- Ensure designs comply with BS7671, G99/G100, DNO requirements and relevant HV standards.
- Provide electrical engineering support throughout project lifecycle—from feasibility to commissioning.
- Liaise with DNOs/IDNOs for grid applications, export limitations and HV connections.
- Conduct site surveys, risk assessments and method statements.
- Support installation teams with technical guidance and issue resolution.
- Oversee testing, inspection and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Ensure all electrical works meet statutory, regulatory and internal compliance standards.
- Maintain documentation for accreditations, certifications and audit requirements.
- Champion safe systems of work, including HV switching procedures and permit-to-work processes.
- Work closely with internal design, operations, and compliance teams.
- Engage with clients, consultants and contractors to ensure technical clarity and project success.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and standards.
Skills & Experience Required
- Essential
- Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Proven experience with HV systems, including switching, protection and distribution.
- Strong capability in producing and interpreting SLDs.
- Experience in renewable energy systems (Solar PV, heat pumps, or similar).
- Working knowledge of BS7671, G99/G100, HV codes of practice and DNO processes.
- Competent in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Amtech/Trimble).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience in commercial/industrial decarbonisation projects.
- Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) HV status.
- Knowledge of HVAC electrical integration.
- Experience working with local authorities, FM providers or utility companies.
- ECS/CSCS, SMSTS/SSSTS or similar site qualifications.
