Branta Recruitment are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a multi-disciplined team of engineers, delivering high standards of maintenance, safety, and operational performance across a number of sites in the Hexham area. This is a leadership role with primary responsibility for managing day-to-day engineering activities, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and driving a proactive culture of safety and reliability across all assets and systems. You’ll work closely with on-site teams, contractors, and senior management to plan and deliver maintenance programmes, optimise asset performance, and ensure seamless site operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of multi-skilled engineers across several sites.
- Oversee the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance activities.
- Ensure all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with company and statutory requirements.
- Manage budgets, contractors, and service providers to achieve operational excellence.
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes and standards.
- Support and enforce Health & Safety compliance, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
- Provide technical support and act as the escalation point for complex maintenance issues.
About You
- Time-served Mechanical or Electrical Engineer (essential).
- Proven experience in an engineering leadership role – ideally within Facilities Management, Maintenance, or Manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of building services, plant, and asset management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Solid working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and compliance standards.
- Flexible, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities across a mobile remit.
