Electrical Engineer Buildings only work when power, controls, and safety systems do. This role puts you on the front line of that promise: diagnosing faults, restoring service, and leaving sites safer and more reliable than you found them. You will be trusted with live assets, tight response windows, and customers who measure success by uptime, not paperwork. Performance Objectives Restore electrical faults on commercial sites within agreed response and fix times, with a first-time-fix rate that protects service levels. Complete planned inspections, testing, and remedial work so installations remain compliant, documented, and ready for audit. Isolate, repair, and recommission distribution, lighting, controls, and small power systems with minimal disruption to occupied buildings. Identify recurring failures and recommend practical upgrades that cut repeat callouts and energy waste. Commission and fault-find EV charge points, BEMS interfaces, and related electrical plant to manufacturer and site standards. Leave every job with accurate test results, risk assessments, and customer updates that a colleague can act on without a callback. Coach apprentices and multi-trade colleagues on safe isolation and electrical best practice during joint attendances. Environment & Resources You will work within a directly employed, multi-trade engineering network covering mechanical, electrical, and specialist facilities work, including gas, HVAC, fire safety, and renewables. Jobs are dispatched 24/7 across a national estate of commercial sites. You will have a stocked van, test equipment, approved materials, and technical backup from experienced engineers. You report to an operations or contracts lead and coordinate with planners, helpdesk, and on-site customer contacts. Work is a mix of reactive callouts and planned maintenance, often in occupied buildings. Essential Qualifications Recognised electrical qualification (for example NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) and current 18th Edition wiring regulations. Proven competence inspecting, testing, and certifying commercial installations, including safe isolation of live systems. Hands-on fault-finding across distribution boards, lighting, controls, and three-phase equipment in occupied premises. ECS or equivalent site card, and willingness to work a rota that includes evenings, nights, and weekends. Full UK driving licence and a clear record of completing jobs to time, quality, and compliance standards. Inspection and testing qualification (2391 or equivalent) strongly preferred; EV or BEMS experience is an advantage. Role Selling Points Engineer-led culture: technical judgement is valued over scripted call handling. Breadth of plant — electrical, controls, EV, and building services — not a single-asset beat. Direct employment, national coverage, and colleagues you can call when a job gets complex. Visible impact: fewer repeat faults, safer sites, and customers who stay because the lights stay on. Call to Action If you want responsibility for real buildings and the skill to put them right, apply with your qualifications, testing tickets, and examples of faults you have closed first time
