The college operates across multiple buildings and requires a reliable trades professional capable of delivering high‑quality maintenance, repairs, and minor project works across the estate.

The Role
The Carpenter will carry out a range of planned and reactive carpentry tasks to ensure the estate remains safe, functional, and well‑maintained. This role supports the wider Estates team and contributes to maintaining a high‑quality learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
• Carry out carpentry repairs, installations, and maintenance across the college estate.
• Undertake planned preventative maintenance and respond to reactive repair requests.
• Install, repair, or replace doors, frames, skirting, flooring, shelving, and other timber fixtures.
• Support minor refurbishment and improvement projects as required.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety standards and college policies.
• Liaise with the Estates Helpdesk to update job statuses and maintain accurate records.
• Work collaboratively with other trades and contractors on multi‑disciplinary tasks.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good working order.
• Provide a customer‑focused service to staff, students, and visitors.
Person Specification
Essential
• Proven experience as a Carpenter or Joiner.
• Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and tools.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
• Existing Enhanced DBS or able to get one
Desirable
• Experience working in an educational, public‑sector, or multi‑site environment.
• Knowledge of basic multi‑trade tasks (e.g., minor repairs in other disciplines). xiskglj
• Experience using CAFM systems.
• Relevant NVQ/City & Guilds qualification in Carpentry or Joinery
