The Role: High-Earning Potential for a Regional Expert
On behalf of our client, a leading mechanical services provider, we are seeking a seasoned Commercial Gas Engineer to join their West Midlands team. This is a role designed for an engineer who wants a solid base salary but is primarily motivated by the opportunity to significantly increase their take-home pay through a high-volume overtime culture. You will manage the technical health of a diverse commercial portfolio, including healthcare facilities, large-scale retail, and corporate office plant rooms.
Our client is looking for a "work-horse" engineer - someone who is happy to put in the hours when the work is there and reap the financial rewards.
Unbeatable Earning Potential
- The OT Advantage: Unlike many firms that cap hours, our client has a consistent surplus of work. You will have access to regular, high-volume overtime paid at premium rates (1.5x and 2.0x).
- Call-Out Rewards: A generous standby retainer plus door-to-door pay for any emergency call-outs. Engineers in this team consistently see their OTE (On Target Earnings) exceed their base by £10k - £15k+.
- Local Efficiency: This is a West Midlands patch. Because you aren't spending 4 hours a day commuting to London or the North, you can actually spend those hours on-site earning overtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Reactive & PPM: High-level fault-finding and planned maintenance on commercial boilers, burners, and associated plant.
- Rapid Response: Taking a lead role in the call-out rota to ensure critical client sites (hospitals, data centers) remain operational.
- Technical Lead: Acting as the senior presence on-site, providing clear diagnostics and remedial solutions for complex system failures.
- Compliance: Maintaining precise digital records of all gas safety inspections and remedial works.
Candidate Requirements
- The Expert Profile: Fully Ticketed: Valid Commercial Gas qualifications (COCN1/CODNCO1, CIGA1, CDGA1, CORT1, ICPN1, TPCP1A).
- Experience: 5+ years in a commercial breakdown and service role. You should be comfortable walking into any plant room and identifying the issue. Consideration given for domestic engineers who have retrained.
- Motivation: A proactive approach to overtime and a desire to maximize your annual earnings.
- Mobility: Full UK Driving License (maximum 6 points).
The Package
- Modern, high-spec van (available for private use) and fuel card.
- Specialized testing equipment and premium PPE provided.
- 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays.
- Direct path to Senior/Lead Engineer status within a growing firm.
