Refrigeration Engineer Cooling failure is not a minor inconvenience. In care, education, hospitality, retail and public buildings, a plant room or cold room that is down puts people, stock and service at risk. You will be the engineer clients trust to diagnose, repair and keep commercial refrigeration and cooling plant safe, reliable and compliant. Performance Objectives Restore commercial refrigeration, cold rooms and associated cooling plant to safe operation on the first visit wherever parts and access allow, and leave a clear residual-risk note when they do not. Complete planned maintenance to the contract standard, catching leaks, control faults and declining performance before they become emergency callouts. Supply accurate equipment, parts and labour data so quotations are right first time and work can be authorised without delay. Hit contracted health and safety, workmanship and profit-after-controllable-expenses expectations on every job, including compliant refrigerant handling and job records. Act as the regional subject-matter expert for refrigeration, coaching colleagues and supporting central technical staff on complex faults. Cover a 1-in-4 emergency rota and attend out-of-hours breakdowns with the same standard of customer care as planned work. Environment & Resources You will work in a regional team of commercial engineers, backed by a central technical support team and a stocked van. You report through your regional engineering line, with access to parts supply, quotation support and established workflows. Proven commercial refrigeration experience, including fault-finding on cold rooms, cabinets and plant-room cooling systems. Current F-Gas certification and a relevant City & Guilds or equivalent refrigeration qualification. Full UK driving licence, right to work in the UK, and ability to pass a DBS check for client sites that house vulnerable people. Clear written job notes, professional client communication and the discipline to work alone and with the wider team. Directly employed national engineering network, not a casual subcontract model. Medical cover, employee assistance, critical illness cover, death in service, and insured income protection for up to two years' sickness, subject to criteria. Cycle to Work, company pension, and an extra day's holiday after three years. Call to Action If you want your refrigeration skill judged by the plant you keep running and the clients who ask for you back, apply online today.
