About the role
We’re looking for a proactive, hands-on Senior Maintenance Engineer to be the first point of contact for production on A Shift. You’ll coordinate and mentor a small team of engineers, lead fault-finding at the line, and build a fix-first-time culture that reduces unplanned downtime.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the A Shift maintenance team on the shop floor, prioritising work to maximise uptime.
- Act as the go-to for operations during production issues, triaging breakdowns and directing the team to respond quickly and safely.
- Be hands-on in fault-finding across electrical and mechanical systems, driving true root-cause analysis rather than repeat fixes.
- Own planned maintenance compliance, ensuring tasks are completed to the right standard and on time.
- Use the CMMS (Shire) in real time for job logging, parts booking, shift reports, and data-driven decision making.
- Champion continuous improvement using 5S, DMAIC and RCA; standardise best practice and embed a fix-first-time mentality.
- Maintain a safe working environment: permits to work, risk assessments, contractor control, and clean-as-you-go workshop standards.
- Support equipment upgrades and reliability projects, working with the Maintenance Manager and cross-functional teams to plan and deliver improvements.
What you’ll bring
- Time-served multi-skilled engineer (Level 3 minimum; HNC/HND or equivalent desirable).
- FMCG manufacturing experience; food industry background is a plus.
- Proven people leadership, perhaps as a Team Leader or Senior Technician, able to coordinate a shift and mentor others.
- Exceptional diagnostics and problem solving; comfortable with systematic root-cause fault finding.
- Confident using CMMS (ideally Shire) and basic data tools to track performance and drive decisions.
- A safety-first mindset with solid knowledge of H&S best practice and compliance.
Why join Branston
- We’re investing in our equipment and reliability programmes and want your ideas to make a real impact.
- A clear progression pathway, develop towards Maintenance Manager or Engineering Manager roles as you grow.
- Training and development tailored to you, from leadership skills to advanced diagnostics.
- Enhanced pension contributions, discretionary company bonus, life assurance, company sick pay, and yes free potatoes.
Location Lincoln site.
