The Role:
As Assistant Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the Financial Controller with the production of accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring strong financial control across all areas of business. You will assist in month‑end, year‑end, and budgeting processes, while also providing valuable insight to drive performance and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
- Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations to maintain robust financial control.
- Ensure accuracy across P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow statements, and explain material variances to budget and prior year.
- Assist with year‑end statutory accounts, including audit preparation and liaison with external auditors.
- Support the completion of annual budgets and reforecasts, working closely with senior management.
- Provide assistance to the purchase and sales ledger teams with ad hoc queries.
- Review and monitor the daily cashflow forecast.
- Support wider Finance projects, including the implementation of a new ERP system.
Qualifications:
- Strong numerical and communication skills.
- Proficient in all Microsoft suites including Excel.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced setting, with self‑motivation and ability to prioritise workload accordingly.
- Starting or progressing through a professional financial qualification.
- Relevant experience in a previous financial accountant role.
