Contract: Full time, Permanent

Days/Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5:30pm

We are seeking a Commercial NQ to join our growing commercial team, working with a range of high-profile and fast-growing clients, including large clients requiring ongoing non-contentious work outsourcing. The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a team, leading and supervising trainees and paralegals as needed. You will play a key role in a dynamic area of the Brandsmiths business. You will be encouraged to develop new business and contribute to the growth of the team and the firm. Excellent communication skills to liaise with other departments and clients, discussing commercial needs and helping originate work, are essential. Our team collaborates closely with in-house teams. You should be capable of processing instructions efficiently and delivering work on time and within budget.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the expansion of our commercial team, engaging across the business on various commercial matters.
  • Work autonomously, taking ownership of your role by engaging in marketing, client meetings, and delivering high-quality work from the outset.
  • Demonstrate top-tier legal, technical, and soft skills, proactively managing matters with appropriate supervision, including drafting and negotiating contracts.
  • Possess experience in contracts involving intellectual property and data protection, such as IP licensing, talent management, sporting, and franchising agreements, with the ability to identify relevant IP rights and strategies for their protection, exploitation, and enforcement.
  • Build strong internal and external relationships and supervise and mentor junior lawyers to support their development.
  • Be goal-oriented, driven, and comfortable engaging directly with clients.
  • Opportunities for business development and cross-office collaboration, especially with our Manchester office, are encouraged.
