Location: Hutton Moor Allotments / Outreach @ Worle Hub

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (8:30am - 4:00pm, Monday-Friday)

Seasonal requirement: During peak growing season, an additional 4 hours of weekend work is required for essential plant watering, irrigation, and plant care

Salary: £25,596 - £26,417 per annum

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

As Project Leader, you will:

  • Lead a team delivering horticulture and landscaping services

Key Responsibilities

  • Horticulture & Landscaping
  • Carry out planting, weeding, pruning, mulching, and crop production
  • Maintain lawns using mowers, strimmers, and turf care equipment
  • Deliver grounds maintenance and soft landscaping services
  • Monitor plant health, soil quality, pests, and diseases
  • Support harvesting and post-harvest handling where required
  • Grounds Maintenance & Site Work
    • Hedge cutting, grass cutting, and general garden maintenance
    • Use and maintain horticultural machinery and landscaping tools
    • Carry out basic site maintenance and outdoor manual work
  • Team Leadership
    • Supervise and support a team in a working horticulture environment
    • Deliver coaching, training, and day-to-day guidance
    • Create an inclusive and supportive workplace
  • Health & Safety in Horticulture
    • Follow and enforce grounds maintenance health & safety standards
    • Safe use of herbicides, tools, and machinery
    • Carry out equipment checks and risk assessments
  • Customer & Commercial Awareness
    • Deliver high-quality landscaping and grounds maintenance services
    • Support contract delivery and customer satisfaction
    • Assist with reporting, budgeting, and service development

    Skills & Experience (Horticulture Focus)

    • Experience in horticulture, gardening, landscaping, or grounds maintenance (essential)
    • Knowledge of plants, seasonal gardening, and plant care
    • Experience using horticultural machinery (mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters, chainsaws)
    • Experience in landscaping or garden maintenance roles
    • Team leadership or supervisory experience
    • Understanding of plant health, soil, and pest management

    Additional Requirements

    • Enhanced DBS check required
    • Physically fit and able to work outdoors daily
    • Driving licence (Essential)
