A leading construction consultancy in Bristol is seeking a skilled Principal Designer to join their vibrant and growing team. As Principal Designer, you will play a pivotal role in managing design risk and ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, working closely with clients, architects, and contractors. The Principal Designer Role As the Principal Designer, you will lead the integration of health and safety into the design process from project inception to completion. You'll provide expert CDM guidance, conduct design risk assessments, and work collaboratively with project teams to ensure projects are delivered safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Deliver Principal Designer duties in accordance with CDM 2015 regulations. Conduct design risk assessments and develop hazard elimination strategies. Prepare and review pre-construction information, construction phase plans, and health and safety files. Act as the primary CDM contact, providing expert advice to clients, architects, and contractors. Attend site inspections and audits to monitor compliance and safety standards. Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver seamless project outcomes. Mentor junior team members and support their professional growth. The Principal Designer Degree in a construction-related field. NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification. Professional accreditation from APS (AaPS, IMaPS, or CMaPS) is desirable. Proven experience as a Principal Designer within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and health and safety practices. Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
