This role would suit an ambitious Project Manager who wants to lead their own commissions while continuing to develop their technical and client-facing skills. The successful candidate will join a supportive consultancy that actively encourages professional development and can provide structured support towards chartership.
The Project Manager will initially lead retail projects from inception through to completion, with opportunities to diversify into other sectors as their experience within the business develops. Responsibilities include:
- Programme management
- Procurement
- Consultant coordination
- Contract administration
- Risk management
- Change control
- Project reporting
- Stakeholder engagement
The Project Manager will chair meetings, coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams, monitor contractor performance, and maintain strong relationships with clients. They will ensure projects remain on programme, within budget, and aligned with the required quality standards. Over time, there will be opportunities to broaden sector experience and take responsibility for an increasingly varied portfolio of commissions.
The successful Project Manager will have:
- Prior experience working within a construction consultancy
- Retail project experience would be highly beneficial
- Experience delivering projects through pre-contract and construction stages
- A degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, or a related discipline
- MRICS, MAPM, MCIOB, or working towards a relevant professional qualification
- Good knowledge of JCT contracts and construction procurement
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
- Experience coordinating consultants and contractors
- A proactive, organised, and commercially aware approach
In return, the position offers a salary of £45,000 - £55,000, chartership and APC support, professional membership support, pension contribution, a strong pipeline of recently secured retail projects, opportunity to diversify across other sectors, independent project responsibility, clear career progression opportunities, and a supportive Newbury consultancy team.
