A driven and skilled Associate Director Building Surveyor is required to take a leading role within an established London property consultancy, combining client delivery, team leadership and business development with a clear route towards Director level.

The successful Associate Director Building Surveyor will join a well-established practice with national reach, a strong commercial client base and complementary services across project management, quantity surveying and architecture.

The Associate Director Building Surveyor Role

The Associate Director Building Surveyor will manage a varied portfolio of commercial building surveying instructions across project and professional work.

You will remain involved in delivery while taking responsibility for client relationships, team performance and fee generation.

The role will suit someone who enjoys combining technical work with the commercial side of consultancy, including developing existing accounts, creating new opportunities and cross‑selling wider services.

The Associate Director Building Surveyor will also support junior surveyors, manage workloads and maintain strong standards across reporting, service delivery and client care.

Duties to include

  • Manage commercial building surveying projects and professional instructions
  • Lead client relationships and secure repeat business
  • Prepare fee proposals, tenders and supporting documents
  • Manage team workloads, project delivery and financial performance
  • Provide clear professional advice and negotiate confidently
  • Identify new fee‑earning and cross‑selling opportunities
  • Support and mentor junior surveyors
  • Maintain RICS, reporting and regulatory standards
  • Contribute to the continued growth of the London office

The Person?

The successful Associate Director Building Surveyor will be commercially aware, technically strong and confident managing clients, people and competing priorities.

The Associate Director Building Surveyor will ideally have

  • MRICS qualification
  • A relevant Building Surveying degree (or related)
  • Strong commercial building surveying experience
  • Experience managing projects and professional instructions
  • Existing client relationships or a developed professional network
  • A record of winning, retaining or expanding fee‑earning work
  • Leadership or team management experience
  • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • A practical approach to business development
