A UK-leading property consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Associate Director of Cost to strengthen their expanding Cost Management team in Soho, London. This is a significant appointment for an ambitious Associate Director of Cost who wants to take on greater leadership responsibility within a well-established multidisciplinary property business investing heavily in the growth of its professional services offering.

Working closely with the Cost Management Director, the successful Associate Director of Cost will lead professional Quantity Surveying commissions while acting as a senior point of contact for key clients. The Associate Director of Cost will oversee cost planning, procurement, financial reporting and commercial delivery, providing independent PQS advice from early feasibility through to final account. Alongside project responsibilities, the Associate Director of Cost will have an important role in developing the wider team. This will include mentoring junior surveyors, strengthening existing client relationships and supporting business development activity. With considerable investment being made into the department, the position offers an experienced Associate Director of Cost the opportunity to influence how the service develops and build towards further senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading cost planning, estimating and benchmarking across multiple client commissions
  • Preparing and reviewing detailed cost plans, budgets and commercial reports
  • Advising clients on procurement routes, commercial strategy and project delivery
  • Overseeing valuations, change control, contractual matters and final accounts
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
  • Managing senior client relationships and providing independent PQS advice
  • Supporting business development, repeat instructions and new client opportunities
  • Mentoring and developing junior members of the Cost Management team

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a relevant construction discipline
  • MRICS qualified
  • Extensive UK PQS or professional cost consultancy experience
  • Proven ability to independently lead commissions and manage key clients
  • Strong knowledge of cost planning, procurement and contract administration
  • Commercially astute with excellent financial and written reporting skills
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management capabilities
