An exciting opportunity has opened for a Senior Fire Engineer to join one of the UK’s most forward-thinking and well-resourced consultancies, based in London. This industry-leading firm is widely respected for combining technical excellence with a pragmatic, creative approach to fire safety design.
As a Senior Fire Engineer, you will take the lead on developing and delivering fire strategies for landmark projects across the commercial, heritage, residential, transport, and mixed-use sectors. The successful Senior Fire Engineer will apply expert knowledge of UK fire legislation to solve complex design challenges, working in partnership with leading architects, project managers, and multidisciplinary consultants.

The Senior Fire Engineer’s Role:
- Lead the development of fire strategy reports from concept through to handover
- Provide technically robust and innovative solutions aligned with current UK legislation (ADB, BS 9999, BS 9991, and Building Safety Act)
- Oversee performance-based design, fire engineering calculations, and design appraisals
- Liaise directly with clients, design teams, and approving authorities
- Guide junior engineers, contributing to team growth and project success
- Participate in fee proposals, client briefings, and site inspections
The Senior Fire Engineer:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Fire Engineer within a consultancy in the UK
- Degree qualified in Fire Engineering (or related discipline)
- Working knowledge of UK codes and guidance, including CFD tools (e.g. PyroSim, Pathfinder – advantageous)
- Able to communicate complex principles clearly and pragmatically
- Chartered or working towards chartership with IFE or equivalent (preferred)
- Passionate about quality, collaboration, and achieving creative, risk-informed solutions
