We are working with a well-established, multidisciplinary built environment consultancy that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Clerk of Works to fulfil inspections on residential projects across the M4 Corridor / West Country.

Alongside managing your own projects, you will also support the development of junior colleagues and help maintain consistently high standards across the wider Clerk of Works service.

  • Senior Clerk of Works Role/Responsibilities
  • Undertake regular inspections of construction projects.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, quality and workmanship.
  • Produce high-quality professional reports supported by clear photographic evidence.
  • Verify that works comply with contractual drawings, employer's requirements, warranty standards and Building Regulations.
  • Identify and raise defects, discrepancies and quality concerns.
  • Take ownership of defect trackers within site visit reports.
  • Proactively obtain updates from site teams and ensure defect records remain accurate and current.
  • Manage and undertake snagging, de-snagging and end-of-defects-liability-period inspections.
  • Maintain project records in line with internal filing systems and quality assurance procedures.
  • Support junior colleagues with their professional and technical development.
  • Senior Clerk of Works Skills
  • Strong experience inspecting residential new-build or refurbishment projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of building construction processes and workmanship standards.
  • Good knowledge of standard forms of construction contract, including JCT and NEC.
  • Membership of the ICWCI or the CIOB,
  • Experience using tablet-based inspection platforms such as Field View, Plan Radar or similar.
  • The ability to produce clear, detailed and technically accurate written reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Excellent organisation, time-management and deadline-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and MS Project.
  • A full UK driving licence.
