A Senior Chartered Building Surveyor can lead technically demanding Cambridge instructions while helping an experienced regional team deepen its client relationships.
The successful Senior Chartered Building Surveyor will join an established multi-disciplinary consultancy with a strong regional presence across commercial, laboratory, healthcare and heritage. The business has enough scale to provide in-house design, cost and project management support, while remaining accessible and practical in the way decisions are made.
The Senior Chartered Building Surveyor Role
The Senior Chartered Building Surveyor will focus on complex technical projects, client management and team support, managing instructions from initial brief through to completion. You will remain close to clients and delivery, working with colleagues across surveying, project management, cost consultancy and design where the instruction requires it.
The Senior Chartered Building Surveyor will also mentor junior colleagues, review technical output and help convert strong client relationships into repeat instructions. It is a role for someone who wants more influence and progression without moving away from the work they enjoy.
Duties of the Senior Chartered Building Surveyor to include:
- Lead projects from initial advice through to completion
- Act as Contract Administrator and Project Manager
- Prepare specifications, tenders and technical reports
- Undertake surveys, defect analysis and due diligence
- Manage client communication and project reporting
- Coordinate internal and external consultant teams
- Review junior surveyors’ work
- Support bids and regional business development
- Maintain strong technical and service standards
The Person?
The successful Senior Chartered Building Surveyor will be technically confident, commercially aware and capable of managing clients and competing priorities with limited supervision.
The Senior Chartered Building Surveyor will ideally have:
- MRICS qualification
- A relevant Building Surveying degree
- Construction consultancy experience
- Strong project and professional services knowledge
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage clients and consultant teams
- Experience supporting junior surveyors
- Commercial awareness and an interest in growth
- A strong track record of independent project delivery
