A national consultancy is seeking an Assistant Building Surveyor to join its team. This Building Surveyor role offers exposure to a range of projects and sectors, providing practical experience across building surveying services. The Building Surveyor will work alongside senior surveyors, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams, and developing core Building Surveyor skills. This position is suitable for candidates aiming to progress toward chartered status.
The successful Building Surveyor will be joining a consultancy providing building surveying and project management services across multiple sectors, including commercial, residential, education, and healthcare. This Assistant Building Surveyor role supports development within a structured team while gaining practical experience on live projects.
As the Building Surveyor, you will assist with the delivery of building surveying services and technical advice across a variety of projects. You will support senior surveyors and project teams, ensuring compliance with relevant design standards and regulations.
The role will include:
- Assisting with building condition surveys and producing clear reports for clients
- Supporting preparation of tender documentation, including drawings, specifications, and schedules of work
- Assisting with tender submissions, contractor analysis, and preparation of JCT construction contracts
- Attending pre-contract briefings and supporting project handovers
- Conducting site inspections to monitor quality, progress, and health & safety compliance
You will be an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Building Surveyor with a strong interest in building surveying. Applications from candidates without construction-related experience or surveying interest will not be considered.
The Assistant Building Surveyor must have:
- Full clean UK driving licence with access to a vehicle
- Willingness to undertake DBS Enhanced check
- Good organisational and communication skills
In return, £29,000-£37,000 pa (dependent on experience), 25 days’ holiday pro-rata plus bank holidays, healthcare plan and Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance and pension scheme, total rewards package supporting professional development.
