An established Oxfordshire practice is looking for a Chartered Building Surveyor who wants genuine variety, strong earning potential and the autonomy that comes with a smaller, hands-on consultancy.

The firm delivers building surveying services across a broad residential, commercial and mixed-use portfolio. You will be the lead professional on your own instructions, with direct client access and the freedom to manage projects from inception to completion without unnecessary layers of sign-off.

The Chartered Building Surveyor Role

This is a site-focused Chartered Building Surveyor position with a real mix of professional and project work. Day to day, you will be out on site more often than at a desk, carrying out building surveys, condition assessments and defect investigations, then taking ownership of specifications, tender processes and contract administration through to practical completion.

The workload spans feasibility studies, planned maintenance strategies, property legislation advice and health and safety guidance. You will be trusted to run your own projects, manage client relationships and make commercial decisions. Fire risk assessment experience would be a useful addition.

Duties of the Chartered Building Surveyor to include:

  • Carrying out building surveys, condition assessments and defect diagnosis across a varied property portfolio
  • Preparing designs, costings, project programmes and specifications
  • Managing tender processes and advising on procurement routes and contractor appointments
  • Leading projects from inception to completion including contract administration
  • Advising clients on maintenance strategies and building management
  • Providing guidance on property legislation, building regulations and health and safety
  • Undertaking feasibility studies for development and refurbishment schemes
  • Delivering work to programme and within agreed budgets

The Person?

A commercially aware Chartered Building Surveyor comfortable operating independently across multiple live instructions.

The Chartered Building Surveyor will ideally have:

  • MRICS status with relevant post-qualification experience in building surveying
  • A strong track record across both professional services and project-led work
  • Confident report writing and specification drafting skills
  • Experience managing projects through tender to practical completion
  • Competence advising on building regulations, property legislation and health and safety
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the region

In Return………?

  • Salary of £75,000 - £85,000 depending on experience
  • £450 per month car allowance plus fuel card
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Pension scheme
  • Employee wellbeing programme
  • Retail and travel discount scheme
  • Ongoing investment in training and professional development
