Strategic Supply Chain Manager – Major Infrastructure Projects | Leading FTSE 250 Organisation
London | Hybrid Working
£65,000 - £70,000 + £5,700 Car Allowance + 10% Bonus + Excellent Benefits
A leading FTSE 250 infrastructure organisation is investing heavily in the future of its Major Projects business and is looking to appoint a Strategic Supply Chain Manager to play a key role in that journey.
Working across some of the UK's largest and most complex infrastructure programmes, you'll help shape supply chain strategy from the earliest stages of major bids through to project mobilisation, ensuring the business is well positioned to deliver nationally significant projects across sectors including rail, buildings, utilities and major civil engineering.
This is an exciting opportunity to join at a pivotal time. With a new executive team, a clear strategic direction and significant investment in procurement and supply chain, you'll have the opportunity to influence how the function evolves while working alongside experienced industry professionals on high‑profile infrastructure programmes.
If you're someone who enjoys building relationships, influencing senior stakeholders and developing strategic supply chain solutions rather than simply running procurement processes, this could be the ideal next step.
Working as part of the Major Projects Supply Chain team, you'll partner closely with commercial, engineering and operational leaders to develop innovative supply chain strategies that support winning bids and successful project delivery.
Success in this role is built on credibility, collaboration and the ability to engage suppliers early to create commercially competitive, deliverable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strategic supply chain solutions that support major infrastructure bids and project delivery.
- Lead early market engagement, assessing supplier capability, capacity and innovation.
- Build long‑term relationships with strategic suppliers and delivery partners.
- Partner with commercial, engineering and project leadership teams to develop winning bid solutions.
- Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies to improve project certainty.
- Drive supplier collaboration, performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Champion governance and best practice across supply chain activities.
- Provide insight and reporting on supply chain readiness, risks and opportunities for senior stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
- About 5-6+ years' experience within strategic procurement or supply chain, ideally supporting major construction, infrastructure or civil engineering programmes.
- Experience working with public sector or regulated infrastructure clients would be highly advantageous.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with the confidence and credibility to influence senior stakeholders and strategic suppliers.
- Commercially minded with a proactive approach to solving problems and driving improvements.
- Energy, ambition and the ability to bring fresh ideas within a collaborative team environment.
- Experience supporting major bids, pre‑construction activities or project mobilisation is highly desirable.
- MCIPS, degree qualification or working towards CIPS is advantageous but not essential.
Why Join?
- Be part of a growing Major Projects team created through continued business investment.
- Join an organisation undergoing significant procurement and supply chain transformation.
- Influence projects from bid stage through to mobilisation rather than focusing solely on operational delivery.
- Work on nationally significant infrastructure programmes that shape the UK's future.
- Hybrid working with project‑related travel as required.
- Excellent package including car allowance, bonus and comprehensive benefits.
If you're looking for a role where you can combine strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement and supply chain expertise to influence some of the UK's most important infrastructure projects, we'd love to hear from you.
