Bramwith Consulting is working with a major organisation in the energy sector to recruit a Senior Procurement Manager as part of an ongoing investment in its procurement function.
The business is going through a significant period of change, with a focus on strengthening its procurement capability, improving commercial performance and building closer relationships between procurement and its engineering and operational teams.
Reporting directly to the Procurement Director, you will manage a team of three and take responsibility for procurement across engineering projects, capital expenditure and associated contractor services.
A key focus of the role will be working closely with engineering and capital projects stakeholders, gaining a better understanding of existing spend and identifying where procurement can deliver greater commercial value. This will include taking a detailed look at contractor spend, existing supplier arrangements and opportunities to improve sourcing and contract management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies across engineering projects, capital expenditure, contractor services and operational spend.
- Build strong relationships with engineering, capital projects and operational stakeholders, ensuring procurement is involved early in commercial decisions.
- Review existing contractor and project spend to identify opportunities for improved commercial arrangements, cost savings and supplier performance.
- Lead complex sourcing projects, commercial negotiations and contract management activity.
- Support the wider procurement transformation, improving processes, commercial governance and ways of working.
- Manage and develop a team of three, providing direction and supporting their continued development.
Experience Required:
- Strong strategic procurement experience gained within a complex industrial, engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Experience across engineering projects, capital expenditure, contractor services or technically complex categories.
- Excellent commercial and negotiation skills, with a track record of delivering measurable value.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, particularly when working with engineering, operations and capital projects teams.
- Experience working within heavy industry, energy, aerospace, defence, chemicals or large-scale manufacturing would be particularly relevant.
- Confidence challenging existing supplier arrangements and identifying opportunities to improve commercial performance.
- Previous experience managing or developing procurement teams.
- Degree qualified, with MCIPS or equivalent preferred.
This role would suit someone from a commercially demanding industrial environment who understands the challenges of engineering and capital projects procurement and can build credibility with technical stakeholders.
With continued investment in procurement, there is plenty of scope to improve existing commercial arrangements, strengthen relationships across the business and influence how procurement supports future projects.
