Digital Procurement | Technology Sourcing | Commercial Strategy | Supplier Management

Location: West London (Hybrid)

Salary: 55,000-60,000 (+10% bonus & attractive benefits package)

Ready to take ownership of a growing digital category and play a part in shaping how an organisation invests in technology? A leading UK utilities organisation is looking to strengthen its procurement team with the appointment of a driven Digital Category Manager. With significant investment taking place across the business and a renewed commitment from senior leadership to elevate procurement, this is an exciting time to join a transforming function with ambitious plans for growth and development.

Digital procurement is an increasingly important part of the organisation's commercial strategy, offering the opportunity to shape category strategies, lead sourcing initiatives and identify new ways to maximise value from technology investment. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business, exploring supplier markets and challenging existing approaches to deliver stronger commercial outcomes.

The organisation is looking for a proactive, ambitious individual with a naturally curious mindset - someone who enjoys getting to grips with new challenges, isn't afraid to ask questions and is keen to broaden their expertise. With procurement receiving increased investment and recognition, there is genuine scope to step up, take greater ownership and grow, whether you're a Senior Buyer ready for your first Category Manager role or an existing Category Manager looking for a new challenge.

As a Digital Category Manager, you will:

  • Shape Digital Category Strategy: Take ownership of digital and technology spend, developing category strategies that align with wider business objectives and commercial priorities. You'll build your understanding of technology markets, identify emerging opportunities and influence how the organisation approaches its digital procurement requirements.
  • Drive Commercial Opportunities: Analyse spend, assess supplier markets and identify opportunities to improve costs, contractual terms and overall value. You'll be encouraged to challenge existing arrangements, explore alternative approaches and bring forward ideas that deliver tangible commercial benefits.
  • Lead Strategic Sourcing: Manage end-to-end procurement projects, from engaging with stakeholders and defining requirements through to tendering, negotiation and contract award. You'll develop your commercial expertise while taking ownership of projects with real business impact.
  • Influence Stakeholder Decisions: Build relationships with stakeholders across IT, technology and wider business functions, understanding their priorities and helping shape procurement decisions. You'll have the opportunity to become a trusted commercial partner, bringing procurement into conversations at an earlier stage.
  • Strengthen Supplier Partnerships: Manage key supplier relationships and contractual performance, identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, challenge supplier value and ensure technology partnerships continue to meet business needs.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Procurement Experience: Previous experience in a procurement or category management position, ideally with at least 12 months' experience independently managing a category. Senior Buyers with strong end-to-end sourcing experience and the ambition to take on greater category responsibility will also be considered.
  • Digital & Technology Exposure: Some experience working across digital or technology procurement, with exposure to areas such as IT services, software, SaaS, cloud, telecommunications, hardware or digital solutions. You don't need to be an expert across every area; a willingness to develop your knowledge and take ownership of new challenges is key.
  • Commercial & Strategic Thinking: An understanding of strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations and contract management, alongside the ability to assess commercial opportunities, understand supplier markets and translate analysis into effective procurement strategies.
  • An Ambitious & Curious Mindset: Someone who is proactive, adaptable and naturally inquisitive, with the confidence to ask questions, challenge existing approaches and explore new opportunities. You'll enjoy working in an evolving category, be comfortable stepping outside your comfort zone and be motivated to continually develop your expertise.

This is an opportunity to join a procurement function with real momentum, at a time when investment, leadership focus and growing business recognition are creating exciting opportunities. If you're commercially driven, interested in technology and ready to take the next step in your procurement career, this is a chance to build your expertise, take ownership and make your mark within an evolving function.

Interested? If you're looking for a role that combines digital procurement, commercial ownership and genuine opportunities for progression, we'd love to hear from you.
