I’m partnering with a major global organisation that is investing heavily in its procurement function and embarking on an exciting period of transformation. They are looking for a high-potential, ambitious IT procurement professional who is ready to step into a Category Manager position and accelerate their career.

This is a particularly exciting opportunity because the successful candidate will report directly to the Head of IT Procurement, gaining excellent exposure and development while taking ownership of a broad portfolio of UK and global technology spend. A significant proportion of the global remit is greenfield, providing the opportunity to build category strategies, challenge the status quo and genuinely shape how Technology Procurement operates internationally.

The opportunity:

  • Take ownership of UK and global IT spend
  • Work across the full spectrum of IT categories, including Software, SaaS, Hardware, Cloud, Infrastructure, Telecoms and IT Services
  • Develop and implement strategic category plans across both established and greenfield spend
  • Lead complex strategic sourcing, tendering and supplier negotiations
  • Work with senior technology stakeholders across the UK and internationally
  • Identify significant savings, commercial improvements and supplier opportunities
  • Help shape the future direction of the global IT procurement function
  • Manage and develop a Buyer within the team

Importantly, previous people-management experience is NOT required. This could be an excellent first opportunity to gain management responsibility while being supported by an experienced procurement leader.

Who we're looking for:

  • An ambitious procurement professional looking for genuine career progression
  • Strong strategic sourcing and category management fundamentals
  • Experience across IT / Technology procurement
  • Exposure to multiple IT subcategories would be advantageous
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills
  • Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
  • Someone proactive, driven and comfortable operating in a transformation environment

You could currently be a Senior Buyer, Procurement Manager, Category Specialist or Category Manager looking for a bigger remit.

Package: Up to £65,000 + car allowance + excellent benefits

Location: Newcastle, Edinburgh or Glasgow

For someone looking to accelerate their career in Technology Procurement, this offers a rare combination of global exposure, greenfield category development, direct access to the Head of IT Procurement and the opportunity to gain people-management experience.
