I’m recruiting for an exciting opportunity with a major global organisation undergoing significant procurement transformation. This is far more than a traditional buying role. You’ll have the opportunity to take genuine ownership of key Food categories, shaping category strategy and working with senior stakeholders to influence how the organisation approaches its supplier markets.

Importantly, my client is very open to up-and-coming procurement talent. You don’t necessarily need to already be operating at Category Manager level – if you have strong Food procurement experience, good commercial foundations and are ready to step up into a more strategic role, they would be very interested in speaking with you.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and delivering long-term category strategies across key Food categories
  • Managing significant spend and identifying opportunities to deliver commercial value, innovation and efficiencies
  • Leading complex strategic sourcing, tendering and supplier selection programmes
  • Negotiating high-value commercial agreements with major Food suppliers
  • Building strategic relationships with key suppliers and driving continuous improvement
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate these into effective procurement strategies
  • Using market intelligence, supplier data and commercial analysis to influence decision-making
  • Identifying opportunities across innovation, sustainability, resilience and supply-chain improvement
  • Challenging existing ways of working and supporting the wider transformation of the Procurement function
  • Managing commercial risk and driving strong contractual and supplier performance

They are looking for someone with Food Procurement experience, strong commercial and negotiation capability and the confidence to build relationships with senior stakeholders. This could be a particularly exciting opportunity for an ambitious Buyer / Senior Buyer looking to step up, or an established Category Manager looking for greater strategic ownership and long-term progression. There is a real focus on identifying and developing talent, with opportunities to progress into broader and more senior procurement roles in the future.
