Are you looking for the opportunity to help build and shape a procurement function, rather than simply inherit an established category portfolio?

We’re supporting a highly regarded international organisation with the appointment of a newly created Strategic Procurement Manager, joining at a pivotal stage in the development of its procurement function.

This is a genuinely greenfield procurement opportunity. The organisation is moving from a historically decentralised approach towards a more centralised, strategic procurement model, creating an excellent opportunity to influence how procurement operates across the wider business.

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to bring greater structure and commercial discipline to third-party spend, embed new procurement processes and ways of working, increase stakeholder engagement and demonstrate the value a strategic procurement function can deliver.

Alongside the transformation agenda, you’ll retain significant hands-on responsibility for strategic sourcing and category management across Technology and wider Indirect spend, giving you the opportunity to deliver immediate commercial value while helping build the procurement function for the future.

What will you be doing?

  • Play a key role in the centralisation and continued development of the procurement function.
  • Help transition historically decentralised spend towards a more coordinated and strategic procurement model.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and identify where procurement can add greater commercial value.
  • Develop and embed procurement processes, governance, sourcing methodologies and ways of working.
  • Increase procurement engagement and influence across the organisation.
  • Lead strategic sourcing, tendering and complex commercial negotiations across Technology and wider Indirect categories.
  • Develop and implement category and sourcing strategies aligned with wider business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, supplier consolidation, value creation and improved commercial outcomes.
  • Manage strategically important supplier relationships and drive improved supplier performance.
  • Support the development of procurement capability, reporting and best practice across the organisation.
  • Challenge established approaches and help create a more proactive, commercially focused procurement culture.

What are we looking for?

You do not need to have previously held a dedicated procurement transformation role. This could be an excellent opportunity for a strong procurement professional who has worked within an evolving environment and wants greater ownership over how a procurement function develops.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • 3-6+ years’ experience across procurement, strategic sourcing or category management.
  • Experience across Technology and/or broader Indirect Procurement.
  • Strong strategic sourcing, tendering and commercial negotiation experience.
  • Evidence of improving procurement processes, ways of working or stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience operating within a decentralised, developing or changing procurement environment would be advantageous.
  • Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
  • The confidence to challenge existing approaches and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial and analytical capability.
  • A proactive mindset with a genuine interest in procurement transformation and function development.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded organisation at an early stage of its procurement journey, with the scope to make a visible impact on how procurement is structured, perceived and utilised across the business.
