The role can be based across a number of locations nationally, including Birmingham, Derby, Manchester and Leeds, with further UK locations considered where there is a suitable company office within a reasonable commute.

This is a highly strategic role focused on developing supply chain capability from the earliest stages of major bids through to successful project mobilisation. Working alongside commercial, engineering and project leadership teams, you'll play a key role in shaping supply chain strategy, engaging strategic partners and ensuring the business is well positioned to deliver major infrastructure projects successfully.

The OpportunityYou'll be responsible for developing and implementing supply chain strategies that support both major bids and live project delivery, ensuring suppliers are engaged early, risks are understood and commercial objectives are achieved.

Working across multidisciplinary teams, you'll influence supply chain decisions long before contracts are awarded, helping to create competitive advantage through strategic supplier engagement and innovative procurement approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement supply chain strategies that support major infrastructure bids and project delivery.

Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships, driving long-term Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) initiatives.

Lead early market engagement, assessing supplier capability, capacity, innovation and delivery readiness.

Support bid teams by developing sourcing strategies across labour, materials, plant and subcontract packages.

Work closely with commercial, technical and project leadership teams to integrate supply chain strategy into winning bid solutions.

Facilitate Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) with key supply chain partners to improve project outcomes.

Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies that enhance project certainty and resilience.

Support supplier performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.

Produce reporting for senior stakeholders on supply chain readiness, risks and opportunities.

Champion governance, compliance and best practice across supply chain activities.

Required

Experience:

Experience developing and delivering supply chain or procurement strategies within construction, infrastructure or major projects.

Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence commercial, engineering and operational teams. Experience engaging strategically with suppliers and building long-term partnerships.

Commercially minded with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and presentation skills. Experience supporting major bids, pre-construction activities or project mobilisation would be highly advantageous.

Exposure to major public sector clients or programmes would be particularly valuable.

Degree, MCIPS qualification or working towards CIPS is desirable but not essential.
