Global leading “Big Three” / MBB blue sky strategy consulting firm seeks 3 x Commodity Trading Risk Management Consultants, who will have worked on the Graduate Rotational Scheme of an Oil & Gas, leading Utility or Hedge Fund and be keen to make the move into Energy Trading Strategy Consulting.

Based from any major city (with an international airport) in Europe, including London, Geneva, Zurich, Düsseldorf, Paris, Madrid and Milan. Working principally with the largest global Oil & Gas Producers, Utilities, Metals & Mining Operators, Agro‑businesses, as well as Merchant Traders, Investment Banks and Commodities Exchanges, you’ll join a global team of experienced energy/commodity trading risk consultants helping commodity traders in each of those industries capitalize on market conditions to create value through updated strategies, operating models, portfolios, IT systems, and more.

Key roles include:

  • Developing marketing, sourcing, and trading strategies and business models to manage risks in commodity trading
  • Implementing commodity risk management operating models including governance, organization, business and risk processes, and IT systems
  • Promoting cross‑industry expertise, tools, and perspectives to provide enhanced insights and capabilities
  • Transferring knowledge and ownership to clients’ commodity trading and risk management organizations
  • Assessing trading performance through proprietary benchmarking tools

You’ll join one of the most respected global consultancies, working with like‑minded, very intelligent, dynamic professionals, including energy/commodity trading industry experts coming from both industry and rival consultancies. This will allow you to learn and continue to develop your energy/commodity trading business knowledge, working with the world’s leading global energy/commodity trading clients.

Salary: Open but typically between £70k up to £100k basic + bonus + benefits.

Key skills & experience sought:

  • Minimum of 3 years+ (ideally more) for Consultants and typically 4‑8 years for Senior Consultants, coming from the Graduate Rotational Scheme of an industry energy trading firm (Oil & Gas Major, leading Utility or Hedge Fund), potentially working in Risk Analyst, Product Control Analyst, Trader or other business facing energy/commodity trading positions
  • 70% of their projects are in Energy Trading (Power, Gas, LNG & Oil) so ideally you will have some Energy Trading experience, although you could instead have Metals Trading or Agricultural/Softs Trading experience
  • These roles are looking for the brightest and best, most dynamic energy/commodity trading consultants. You will need to showcase a track record of success throughout your CV/resume, including progression in your roles
  • Exceptionally strong academics (A*s, As and Bs at A‑Level and 2:1 or 1st class degrees (or equivalent for international universities) are essential
  • Flexibility on global travel is important, so you’ll need to be keen to travel to Singapore, Dubai, Geneva, London, Houston etc for up to 1 week at a time to work on client‑site, but with plenty of flexible working from home opportunities when not on client‑site
