The predicted salary is between 27000 - 28000 £ per year.
To work as a member of a team providing a supportive home environment to residents with learning disabilities and possible physical and sensory disabilities. To support residents in their daily living skills and in pursuing a valued lifestyle in terms of occupations, relationships, etc., using where appropriate structured teaching techniques.
Duties:
- To support residents respecting their dignity and right to privacy.
- To work with residents and their families/carers in preparing for moving into Piper House, moving between flats, or out into the community as levels of independence increase.
- To support (as appropriate) residents in completing household tasks e.g. cooking, shopping, cleaning, using structured teaching techniques to develop residents’ skills.
- To assist residents with personal care e.g. bathing, dressing and nutrition aiming to develop their independence in these tasks, providing primary care where appropriate e.g. changing, feeding, etc.
- To assist residents with their medication and appropriately manage the associated medical conditions e.g. epilepsy, under the guidance of the Team Leader and the Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities.
- To accompany residents where appropriate, using these opportunities to further develop their independent travel skills.
Candidate Profile:
- Candidates must have an Enhanced adult workforce DBS subscribed to the update service.
- A Level 2 or 3 Qualification in Health and Social Care is ideal but not essential.
- Valid training in Manual Handling, First Aid, Epilepsy and Safeguarding Adults are highly desirable.
- Experience of working with learning disabilities in either day or residential services.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Self-motivated, uses initiative and takes responsibility.
Please note this is a contracted position of 3-6 months with the possibility of extension depending on budgets and performance. Please note as an agency we can only offer an Umbrella PAYE rate for this post and confirmation of eligibility to work in the UK will be required before submission.
