Overview
Our client in Stoke on Trent is recruiting for a Functional Skills Tutor to deliver various training courses, focusing on Maths and English skills, in addition to Digital Skills and Employability Skills. As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will support learners closely who are undertaking Apprenticeship courses or individuals who are returning to work. A driving licence is essential for this role.
Duties
- Prepare and deliver Functional skills sessions for Maths, English and Digital Skills through in-centre programmes, by attending their workplaces and also through online courses
- Conduct assessments to produce Individualised Learning Plans and then monitor the learner\\\’s progress through regular reviews to ensure achievements are being met
- Create teaching resources, including lesson plans, assignments and assessments for individual learners
- Ensure the teaching aligns with NOCN standards and support with regular SPAG checks
- Identify additional learning requirements
- Ensure compliance in all areas
- Monitor performance against KPIs to support learner progress
- Keep up to date with developments in Functional Skills and relevant national awards
- Collaborate effectively with Training Officers, employers and other key stakeholders to monitor and support learner progression
- Actively participate in Ofsted inspections, awarding body quality visits, and DfE audits when required
- Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion across all learning environments.
- Support the development of new qualifications and learning programmes, such as Digital Skills, by contributing to the design of schemes of work and teaching resources.
Qualifications and candidate profile
- Must hold a Tutoring/Teaching Qualification
- Proven experience in a similar role where you have delivered Functional Skills training is essential (minimum 2-3 years\\\’ experience)
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office skills
- Strong administrative skills
- A driving licence is essential
- Must be able to complete an Enhanced DBS certificate
Hours and Salary
Hours: Monday Thursday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Part-time 24 hours a week or Full-time 37.5 hours a week
Salary: £32,000 Pro Rata
